Kimberly Kitty

Kimberly Kitty, a Montreal native, is quickly turning heads with her saucy ensembles and delicate mélange of deep house and minimal techno, making her crowds positively purr.

“DJ” was not always Kimberly Kitty’s official prefix, astoundingly enough. Long before she took her paws to the decks, Kimberly Kitty was known as a prominent fixture in the Montreal underground club scene. Consequently she blossomed into a bona fide party professional. Her vibrant nightlife presence and knack for dressing up in her signature cat masks garnered her much attention, all the while soaking up the outstanding minimal and techno beats at premier night clubs like Sona and the Mutek Festival. Kimberly also became a staple at DC10 in Ibiza, the clubs of Berlin, and at Burning Man.

Eventually, her passion for DJ culture came to a head, and at the request of many she began to DJ under her own moniker. The uptake was quick seeing as no introduction was necessary. DJ Kimberly Kitty began marking her territory, scoring a residency at Montreal “It” club Velvet Speakeasy and other Montreal events, working with artistic director Dick Walsh, as well as in New York at underground hotspots like Le Souk.

DJ Kimberly Kitty, the Prettiest Kittiest, favors labels such as Kompakt and Minus and gets inspiration from the likes of Monika Kruse, Mr. C, Ricardo Villalobos, My My, Konrad Black, Marco Carola, SIS, and Kolombo. Fuelled by catnip and a penchant to party Kimberly Kitty will play a set to perk up your ears, make your paws bounce, and tails spin!

Brad Slyde

A 15 year veteran of the Montreal club scene, Brad Slyde has been tearing up the airwaves on CKUT 90.3 FM for 8 years with his weekly Heavy Rotation show while breaking new ground in online digital broadcasting along the way. In 2003, with the help of an experimental archiving system and a mailing list, Heavy Rotation became one of the first mp3 radio shows on the planet, predating the podcasting phenomenon. As interest in the show grew, it began to take such a heavy toll on the radio station's computer systems that Brad was asked to stop his internet experiments. Now hosted on www.discobreak.com the digital version of Heavy Rotation reaches over 20,000 people around the world each episode and continues to broadcast on 90.3 FM every Friday morning to Montreal and the surrounding areas. An extremely versatile club DJ, Brad has performed alongside turntable masters like Q-Bert, Z-Trip, or Ninja Tune's DJ Food, as well as appearing at events with Frankie Knuckles or Mark Farina. He's worked with the biggest legends in dance music history, throwing parties with David Mancuso and Nicky Siano. The Montreal Mirror voted him one of the city's "Best Kept Secrets" and Urb Magazine in California has called his mixes "genius". Brad has released vinyl on Vancouver's Futuristic Funk Recordings and been recruited by UK record labels like Tummy Touch and Bear Entertainment for his editing work. Brad is now a Saturday night resident at the legendary Salon Daomé club in Montreal where he holds his successful (((HEAVY DISCO))) events.

Recently signed to Ninja Tune, Montreal’s Ghislain Poirier is obsessed with big, dirty beats, an affliction that causes him create some of the most out of control ragga style riddims, and deconstructed abstract hip-hop to date.

In 2005 Poirier released the album “Breakupdown” on Chocolate Industries, the record was well received by the public and press alike, and as a result he was offered the opportunity to perform during a North American tour with the loudest midget in the game herself, Lady Sovereign.

Since then, Poirier decided to throw down his own successful monthly DJ night in Montreal for 2 years (2005-2007), BOUNCE LE GROS. An evening that features what Poirier describes as “Bass and No Attitude”, Gros Sound, Gros Beat, Gros Move, Bounce le Gros”. A master in the art of making people move, Poirier’s night of genre mashing provides enough bass to fill the place, attracting a mixed crowd that appreciate his dirty style, tasty beats and eclectic flare.

This legend in the making is touring the world extensively playing the underground club circuit. Keep your ears open, your feet in check and be prepared to Bounce!

As a DJ and music selector, Stéphane Cocke has had the privilege to express himself playing in clubs, lounges and special events in major cities around the globe, as well as producing music and radio shows. Eclectic and sophisticated, he has brought together local Montreal talent on the soothing Café Méliès series. All 4 volumes have shown to be a popular and critically acclaimed success. He is well known for his enticing DJ sets that go from latin rhythms to house and electro. Production wise, he’s had 2 collaborations with Miguel Graça: "Somesay" and "New Reality" (Bombay Records). On the radio, he has hosted and produced "Groove Cocketail" for 10 years on CIBL FM in Montreal, covering the cutting edge music scene with guests and interviews.
