Movember At Three Monkeys

WHAT WE’RE UP TO:

Three Monkeys joins a global movement that is bringing much needed attention to prostate cancer. We’re doing this by growing Moustaches this Movember, the month formerly known as November. Our commitment is to grow moustaches all November to change the face of men’s health and we want you to join us.

We’re looking for real men to join our team... we’re not interested in your jobs, or girlfriends, or wives, or your looks boys... so save the excuses, only real Mo Bros need apply;). Mo Sistas, we need you too! Lord knows no one else is gonna talk to us looking like this...

The funds we raise during our Moustache journey go to Prostate Cancer Canada.

What many people don’t know is that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to afflict Canadian men with 25,500 diagnosed and 4,400 dying from the disease each year. Facts like these have convinced us to get involved.

Prostate Cancer Canada will use the money raised by Movember for the development of programs related to awareness, public education, advocacy, support of those affected, and research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of prostate cancer.

DAY 9

It’s On. Three Monkeys Mo Bros unleash their Mos.

For the first official shave down to the Mo, a few of us decided it was only fitting to go to the best. We went oldschool at the legendary Chez Menick, a real Montreal landmark.

Menick opened this shop at 18 and says he’s been running it for 50 years, when we told him what we were up to, he welcomed us over with open arms for a nice close shave. Even at 10am the place was packed with patrons, most of whom Menick all knew by name. Judging by the atmosphere, we knew we had gone to the right place. Looking over the wall to wall photos around the barber shop we see Menick with the likes of Chuck Norris, Hulk Hogan, Randy Macho Man Savage, Andre the Giant, and countless Expos and Canadians stars. I was sold at Chuck Norris.

Celebrity support for Team Three Monkeys! Mo Bro Mike Babins brings some Metal to MOVEMBER! Original MEGADETH bass player (and founding member) David Ellefson and Warbringer frontman John Kevill show their support for our Prostate Cancer fundraising and Mo growin’ efforts. Mo on! Thanks guys;).

DAY 17

Man, we’re over $3500 to date with great continued celebrity support! Guitar God Alex Skolnick (Testament, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, The Alex Skolnick Trio, Savatage and he played with a guy named Ozzy at one point) salutes our Staches and efforts to raise money for Movember! The Canadian metal community show some love too! Ottawa’s Joe Thrasher send in a donation to keep us Moin’. Respect to Mo Bro Mike Metal as well for keeping this campaign rockin’.

Thanks to everyone that’s helped out so far, your support really means a lot. We’ve raised over $5000 to date! A BIG thanks to everyone who’s supported and been a part! To raise Mo’ funds for the final push this week, Three Monkeys is having a raffle for a $250 shopping spree, a Travis Taddeo Auction for 2 one of a kind pieces and you can pick up a sick Mixtape by The Moustache Men DJs for only $10. All proceeds go to Prostate Cancer Canada! Drop by the shop and help us on our final push for this Movember!

The Moustache Men DJs are your neighbourhood heroes Classi Assi, New Money & F.U.N.K. Their forces combined is so powerful it creates the highest forms of audio pleasure combined with a tingling sensation in your pants....and it’s not their ticklish moustaches.

Barbershop Music is a Mix CD. It’s a collection of songs, edits, remixes, blends, whatever you'd like to call them that the 3 of them put together. They feel it's probably the best body of work they’ve been involved with since they starting DJing, so you should probably check it out.

DAY 25

A big day for us this Movember! The first Official MOntreal Gala! The Moustache Men DJs kill it, Mo Bro Mike Metal takes the stage as MC and presents the awards, and Mo Bro Kris Murray catches everything on film in fine style. Mo Sis Teedah also brings in our largest single donation of $400 today, taking us up to $5800! Day 27, solid.

DAY 27

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s a wrap. Movember has come to an end and boy has it been a ride! Our team has raised $6000 in funds for Movember & Prostate Cancer Canada, we also grew some serious MOs and had a blast doing it! Thank you all for the support. We'll be back in 2010!
